SIXTH FORM ADMISSIONS

Wilson's School welcomes applications from boys from other schools. Each year a number meet the entry requirements and are accepted into the Sixth Form. New students quickly become assimilated and involved in the life of the school. Indeed, some of our most successful sixth formers joined us as new pupils at the age of 16.

If a candidate appears to have the potential to satisfy the requirements, he will be called for a meeting in March to discuss AS options. Following that meeting, an offer of a place may or may not be made. Such offers are always conditional upon the attainment of the required grades in the GCSE examinations.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Offers for places in our sixth form will be made on the basis of the following considerations:

  • that a candidate is able to demonstrate potential for study in his chosen subjects at A and AS level. A candidate must meet the entry requirement for the subjects he wishes to study (see below)
  • that he achieves at least eight GCSE passes from the above list (Grades A* – B) including English, Mathematics and at least one science
Places will be offered subject to availability on the candidate’s chosen courses. There are 10 places available for external candidates. These places will be offered in rank order of the total of the best eight GCSE passes from the above list (Grades A* – B) including English, Mathematics and a science. Parents and students have the right of appeal against the decision not to offer a place in the Sixth Form.
