Congratulations to Thomas Jeavons, the first pupil at Wilson’s School to complete all four units and pass the ECDL course .

Welcome to the ICT homepage. Here you will be able to find information about the various courses the pupils have the opportunity to follow during their time at Wilson’s School. You can also find resources that are used during the teaching of these courses.

Curriculum

Key Stage 3

Pupils follow the Key stage 3 curriculum in years 7 and 8. In ICT they will be working towards gaining the European Computer Driving Licence Extra certificate, which is a level 2 certificate (the same level as a GCSE course). The course is made up of 4 units which they study over the two years as shown below:

Year 7 – ECDL Module 3 Word & Module 6 PowerPoint
Year 8 – ECDL Module 4 Excel & Improving Productivity using IT

Key Stage 4

Pupils who have chosen to study ICT at Key Stage 4 will follow the OCR AS ICT course. This is a 3 year course and is made up of two units, an examination (G061) and the structured tasks (G062). In each year the pupils will be doing the following:

Year 9 – ICT Theory
Year 10 – Structured Tasks
Year 11 – Examination

Key Stage 5

In the sixth form students have the opportunity to study the OCR AS/A Level Computing course. This is an interesting yet challenging course consisting of four mandatory modules:

F451 – Computer Fundamentals
F452 – Programming Techniques and Logical Methods
F453 – Advanced Computing Theory
F454 – Computing Project
